For Groups

For Groups

I offer day-long and half-day sessions tailored for communities and groups:

Listening for Calling

A workshop helping a group engage calling by listening in ways that can inform discernment and action.  This time allows participants to reflect on experiences, gifts and desires, and what those mean for their unfolding stories.  Doing so helps understand what calling means to them - and how to pursue their unique calling.  The workshop makes space for hope, risk, trust, and more. Participants will experience ways to listen that can help them live intentionally in the spaces between awareness, knowing, and action.

Discerning What Is Next

A session helping groups imagine and explore what could be next for a church, organization, ministry, or project.  The focus is on catalyzing creative thinking that respects identity and values while considering past, present, and future.  Space is created and nurtured to honor opportunities, challenges and realities, and support participants in surfacing wants and needs honestly and courageously.

Transitioning with Jesus

A chance to reflect on the many ways change can impact a community, and how understanding transition’s deeper invitations to grow can empower us.  The focus is working with questions about control and trust; joy and pain; loss and gain.  The day considers Jesus’ actions in transitional moments and how He was affected.  It looks at what he offered His disciples and others, and how that can encourage us.  The time uses ritual, listening, and sharing to help individuals and the group explore hopes and fears in ways that foster honesty and support.

I also offer:

Small Group Facilitation

I help create and hold space for groups to process opportunities, challenges, and questions.  My initial focus is listening and observing as I learn about goals, gifts, and stories.  I guide conversations with the purpose of naming realities and potentials that may be hard to see.  The goal is to empower the group to create ways forward.  Throughout this process, I invite people to listen to God and each other from places of head, heart, and spirit.  I help groups:

  • Facing questions about vision, strategy, and identity
  • Needing to process a change or loss
  • Wanting support during a time of challenge, adjustment, or uncertainty
  • Seeking to explore a topic or concept

Presentations, Seminars, and Workshops

I enjoy educating about:

  • Spiritual Direction
  • Pastoral Care
  • Self Care for Leaders and Ministers
  • Prayer and Contemplation
  • Advocacy and Service

Retreats

Time away from the usual routine is essential for discerning call - or just connecting more deeply with God, self, and others.  As one who understands rhythms of retreat, how nature can teach us, and opening to God in new spaces, I lead group retreats and help individuals prepare for retreat.

Speaking and Preaching

I engage audiences experientially, in the here and now, helping them use awareness of desire and need to gain clarity on relevant questions.  I enjoy being with:

  • Groups of young adults in educational settings
  • People applying faith to acts of service and justice
  • Helpers (counselors, social workers, coaches) wanting to integrate spirituality and care
  • Those nurturing the inner journey

"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves.  Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them.  And the point is to live everything.  Live the questions." (Rainer Maria Rilke)
